Ettlingen, October 2002

October 2002 - The styrol industry is processing a large number of raw materials to be used in the automobile-, electronic- and packaging industry. The core of the styrol production plant is an extruder which is operated under vacuum.

Common vacuum pumps or steam ejectors could not produce the vacuum for long time as scaling and collection of dirt always caused trouble.

With a new combination of ejectors and mixing condensers GEA Jet Pumps has now developed a system which is insensible to scaling and dirt and enables a trouble-free operation of the vacuum pumps for a long period. An additional benefit is the reduction of waste water as the system operates with closed cooling water loop.

Two plants are already successfully in operation at well-known customers and the commissioning of the third plant will take place soon.
