First Silicon in Malaysia manufactures
computer chips. This process demands super pure water which is treated in an
adsorption plant. For the filling and drainage of this plant First Silicon uses
a GEA Jet Pumps water jet solid pump.Water jet solid pumps are jet pumps which,
with the help of a motive liquid, convey a free-flowing, granular substance.
The substance which is to be conveyed is fed into the jet pump through a
funnel. The motive liquid, which is usually water, flows at high velocity out of
the motive nozzle into the mixing chamber of the pump. This causes the liquid
jet to entrain any material which is present. Depending on the characteristics
of the material to be conveyed, rinsing water must be added into the filling
funnel to ensure an uninterrupted feed. The mixture of liquid and material to
be conveyed is supplied directly to the place of operation via a pipe or hose.
Water jet solid pumps are used for the conveyance of sand, gravel, activated
carbon, ion exchanger resins and other solids; also for filling and emptying
reactors with reactor mass or marble gravel etc.; in the decarbonising and
neutralizing units of drinking and service water plants; for mixing in
precipitating agents during the treatment of sludge and effluent.
