Steam Jet Compressors use the energy of a high pressure vapour to compress low pressure vapours to a medium pressure level.

Normally such Jet Compressors are driven by steam and mostly serve to compress water vapours. In principle however, Vapour Jet Compressors can operate with most normal vapours to compress a variety of different vapours.

Steam Jet Compressors are used:

  • Evaporation
  • Distillation
  • Cooling
  • Crystallisation
  • Deodourisation
  • Degassing
  • Drying under vacuum
  • In the positive pressure range the compressed exhaust vapours are used for heating duties.

Steam Jet Ventilators are available in the following standard materials:
Carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel; or in special construction from titanium, hastelloy, and many others.

A = motive steam
D = vapour flow
E = product
H= condensate

By way of example, we note the following typical application:

Evaporator using a steam jet compressor as a heat pump
Part of the drawn-off vapour stream is re-compressed, using motive steam, and used to heat the Evaporator. As well as the saving of heating steam, a safer limitation of the temperature differences between the heating and evaporation chambers is achieved.
