Gas Jet Pumps serve to produce a vacuum or can be used as Gas Jet Compressors. They operate on the same principle as a steam jet vacuum pump or steam jet compressor. However, instead of steam, gas or compressed air is used as the motive medium. This is particularly suitable where no steam is available, or where compressed air or gas have advantages over steam as the motive medium.
For differential pressures up to approximately 300 mbar, please refer to Gas Jet Ventilators.
Gas Jet Vacuum Pumps are used in many cases to evacuate pipelines, vessels and plants.
Gas Jet Compressors are mainly used to mix and compress gases.
Gas Jet Vacuum Pumps and Gas Jet Compressors are available in the following standard materials:
Cast iron, cast steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, plastics and ceramics. Moreover there is also the option of using special materials such as titanium, hastelloy, and many others.
By way of example, we note the following typical applications:
a) Gas jet compressor system to convey atmospheric refinery gas into the gas heating system, using process gases as the motive medium.
A = gas from atmospheric crude distillation B1 - B4 = process gases at higher pressure C = heating gas 1 D = heating gas 2 E = to flare |
1 = atmospheric product separator 2 = separator 3 – 6 = gas jet compressor |
b) Gas Jet Compressor to convey atmospheric exhaust gases into the combustion chamber of a boiler.
A = natural gas B = exhaust gas C = mixed gas |
1 = gas jet compressor 2 = combustion chamber |
